Elden Ring is FromSoftware's open-world action RPG, on PlayStation 4.
How open is it?
Most of the Lands Between is reachable from the start, and difficulty is signposted by the enemies you meet rather than by a level gate. You can leave a wall and come back stronger.
How does combat work?
Stamina-based attacks, guard counters, parries and spells, with an ashes-of-war system that changes weapon moves. Spirit summons help in boss fights.
Is it as hard as Dark Souls?
It is demanding, but the open structure gives more ways around a wall: level elsewhere, find better gear, or summon help.
